We can create a macro by using the macro recorder to record a sequence of actions, or a macro can be created from scratch by entering Visual Basic for Applications code in the Visual Basic Editor. This is there in all the versions of Microsoft Word and the features have been increasing from one to another.
1) On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Record New Macro.
2) In the Macro name box, type a name for the macro. By default it will be Macro1 and the number increases.
3) In the Store macro in box, click the template or document in which you want to store the macro. We can change the location just by clicking the drop down.
4) In the Description box, type a description for the macro.
If you don't want to assign the macro to a toolbar, a menu, or shortcut keys, click OK to begin recording the macro.
If you don't want to assign the macro to a toolbar, a menu, or shortcut keys, click OK to begin recording the macro.
5) A small dialog box that shows the status of the recording is shown over here.
Click on stop button to see it in the list of macros that are already stored.
