In Excel 2010 we have an option to select the a range of cells and insert function depending on the values and need. The database of the formulas in 2010 version has increased in numbers. It has become very easy to do simple calculations without typing any formula in the address bar.
Steps to Insert Formula in Excel 2010:
1) Place the cursor in the cell where we need to get the data using certain function. Say we need to average the number of days per month in an year.
2) Click on Formulas Menu and Click on Insert Function option just below the File Menu which has following icon.
3) Select the function average (for current example) and click on OK
3) When we click OK on the above dialog box we will get another dialog box asking for the range of data. we can select using mouse from the worksheet.
When we drag to select the data, it will note the range automatically. Click on OK to get the average of number of days in a month.
This is the easiest method of doing simple calculations on Microsoft Excel. For simple mathematical calculations we can use this method to get the function inserted and executed automatically.

Knowing every single function and formula in Excel does not make one an expert user of Excel. As observed so often, many Excel users who claim knowing everything about Excel are still spending a lot of time on their spreadsheets. custom excel reporting
